Hi Karen, just wanted to get back to you on our vacation. We had a great time. You have a very nice home there, the design was very good and very functional including the yard etc. You got a lot done with the space you had! I thought all the plastic glasses etc. were a great idea with all the tile floors and patio area. Diane really like the little green shot glasses, she wants to find those and get some herself. It did take us a while to adjust to the heat being in town, we ended up walking downtown via the beach after a few days. Our favorite thing turned out to be the fresh fish from the dock which was of course was in your notes, we did that twice. Red Snapper and Grouper, the latter being the favorite. Buying fresh veggies at the market on Wed morning made the meals even better. (Lucio's idea) John Gray cooked Coronado at his place which is really good fish too, but we never saw that at the docks. As I mentioned before, Lucio is the best, you are very fortunate to have such a great guy looking over the place. Some time I would like to hear the story how you came upon him. We are going to Playa del Carmen May 9th for 4 days as Diane won a trip there from work. We will come up one day to PM and we had to promise Lucio we would come and see him. John Gray told us to call him from his place in PDC and he would come down there one evening too. Mama's bakery moved to the two lane street, not quite a long block from the main square. She is very close to the Italian restaurant I believe or one of the dive shops. Nice lady but we got poor information from her regarding the fishing and cooking over the grill. Lucio saved the day and got us some charcoal as there was none in town. I never know what to tip the caretaker, I almost called you but we left him $80 or $100 US at the end of our stay. We stopped at the Real Estate place, we just wanted to walk by the lot in town but the lady you know wanted to show us around that afternoon. Nice gesture but we just opted to hang out instead. We did drive out north of town on the water where we have stayed in the past. One of the owners was there that we have gotten to know . His place has been rebuilt and is for sale. 1.1MM The agent you know has the listing. So that's it from here, thanks again for sharing your home with us. Scott

I have yet to delete my e-mails relating to Puerto Morelos and our correspondence. As I sit at my desk daydreaming about our wonderful trip, I am hesitant to delete this connection to a truly enjoyable experience. My wife, 20 year old son and girlfriend, 20 year old daughter, 15 year old son and myself had the best vacation time ever. The village was everything you said it would be. The kids felt completely safe walking to town to get something to eat or drink or just look around. I sent my 15 year old to buy bread and pineapple juice with 100 pesos and he thoroughly enjoyed practicing his one year of high school Spanish. The people of this quaint village are very kind, gentle and happy. We always felt completely safe, in fact safer than in Houston or parts of San Antonio.
The transportation service was wonderful and they took us to Wal-Mart to stock up on groceries, that was a trip in itself. The next day we bought "Hog Fish" from the local spear fishermen and cooked it at the house, it was wonderful. We also got to know the great lady who runs "Mama's Bakery" and sampled her food often. We also rented a car from her that was delivered to her door for us. We drove to Playa del Carmen and experienced the other end of the spectrum of beach resorts. I didn't enjoy that much but the ladies seemed to manage to shop for about 5 hours. We also went to Tulum one day. That is very interesting and the beach is spectacular. If I went back I would wear a swimming suit and take a swim before returning. Please continue to recommend "John Gray's Restaurant". As I told you earlier, I can be an obnoxious Texan and it pains me to admit that the best steak I ever put in my mouth was cooked by John Gray in Puerto Morelos, Mexico.
I feel very fortunate to have had this experience with my family in your beautiful home. Lucio and Elsie were very helpful and courteous. I was proud that my kids developed a sincere appreciation for the people of the village and chose to come back to the Market in Puerto Morelos to purchase hammocks, jewelry, etc. so we would be helping the local economy. We will look back with fond memories of relaxing around your beautiful pool and sharing the adventures of the day miles away from this office and our hectic pace. Please do not hesitate to give my name to anyone seeking a recommendation.Sincerely,
John Walker George West, Texas
